The internet is the vast arena in which every conceivable form of information circulates through the world, and searching is the primary means of collecting, archiving and accessing this enormous quantity of information. The circuitous nature of information calls for an agency with the kind of intelligence that can search the web independently, a guide to lead the user to the exact information that is sought. This guide requires intelligence since it aims to satisfy information producers and information users simultaneously.

As information increases and expands its reach on the internet, the need for a superior guide that can meet the demands of the common user and survive the fiercest competition arises in a brave new technological world of power and wealth – ‘The gateway to the internet will be the guide to power.’ These are the reasons why search is the real power and kernel behind the future of IT. As a matter of fact, a single enterprise has been winning the competition and amassing a still unknown reservoir of wealth. As ‘the emperor of search,’ Google has taken pole position in the world's mindset. Google's sales for search advertisements are $3 billion for each quarter. When Google started as a small venture shared by two men, few would have expected its annual sales to reach 10 trillion dollars, with a market cap around 100 billion dollars. Google now operates 300 thousand computers and gathers information on the internet around the world (and around the clock) for all major international languages. Recently, Google announced a huge and ambitious project plan. The project is to launch 16 artificial satellites and offer wireless internet to 3 billion marginalized people by 2010.

Google started its brand with the idea that since everyday there appears in the world a constant stock of new information, there would have to be present a vigilant company capable of organizing this endless increase of information on a daily basis for the greater good of the information producers and users. Now much more than a mere venture enterprise, Google performs the secret role of an invisible, yet quite influential, world government. So it is possible to speak of ‘a world changing along with Google.’ The success of Google provides the best evidence for the increased influence a search engine exerts on the internet, the IT sphere, and the world at large.

2. The Logic of the Situation (1)

: The Bowling Over of America in the World Market At present, there is a race between Yahoo and Microsoft to catch up with Google in the global search market. Last year ComScore surveyed 750 million users around the world and revealed surprisingly that Baidu (a Chinese company) and Naver (a Korean company) were in third and fifth place, respectively. Despite this very successful showing, some claim that the results do not demonstrate the relative positions these search companies have in the global market, since their achievements are limited to China and Korea alone, two countries which enjoy an enormous access and market share within their respective regions.
Early on in its economic boom, Korea’s success in the construction, manufacture, and IT industries put the country in line with the developed powers of the world, and the international community was brought further to recognize Korea as an IT and electronics powerhouse with the exposure the 2002 FIFA World Cup brought to the international reach of companies like Samsung and LG. But as the development of a global search technology continues to fail in light of great expectations, this IT-driven country faces a dark shadow in its future. Already there are doubts about the significance of a strictly internal, closed portal system, while anti-portal mood spreads among skeptics. Though one of the biggest obstacles for search companies, if they are to avoid ‘the backwater of search,’ is the language barrier, the primary reason for the absence of a truly innovative search technology to compete in the world market is the yet untested limits of the technology itself.

3. The Logic of the Situation (II) –The Presence of Europe, the World’s Science Leader, and Japan, the World’s IT Leader

France is currently ranked number one in the world for high tech aerospace engineering, while other developed European countries, in competition with American hegemony, have gained similar footholds in the advanced science and IT industries. Japan maintains the current fastest and smoothest internet environment and leads the world in IT development. But the development of search engine technology is a different issue. In major European developed countries, Google controls 90% of the market share. In Japan, Yahoo holds 56%, while Google enjoys 31% of the market share, which means American search engines control 87% of the total market in Japan.

Fortunately, there is a gradual movement to change the world market territory. The EU and Japan recognize the impending importance of search engine technology and have cooperated with their respective governments to secure next generation advancements. Japan has pushed this movement in its support of the “Information Odyssey Period Research Society,” a project coordinated by an academic-industrial association that aims to loosen the strong grip American search engines have on Japanese web users.

4. The Logic of the Situation (III)
–After 20 Years, Korean Search Engine Development Remains Strictly National

The history of search engine development in Korea is almost 20 years, but the results, from an international viewpoint, have been lackluster. The two most used search engines in Korea, Naver and Daum, share 90% of the total market in Korea, yet they have not developed international versions for the global market. Though these two search engines have been satisfying regional users with an abundance of high quality content, these portals cannot promise similar high quality content to an international market, since they are reluctant to go beyond the prominence they enjoy at home.

Netizens have demonstrated the need to access information across national borders, since information on the web has the tendency to move across international forums. In order to meet a bigger world and have dialogue with various voices in different countries and languages, these portals will need to extend their capacity to satisfy netizens who have a multinational interest in a growing world network. The need to provide better leadership and guidance in a global web culture is becoming a pressing issue.

When Naver failed to create inroads into Japan, national interest in overseas web expansion was momentarily frustrated. NHN (Naver’s parent company) withdrew from Japan after it had failed to establish NHN-Japan with any permanence. Recently Naver has tried again to introduce a Naver-Japan service, but expectations are much lower than before as a result of renewed doubts over the difficulty of crossing a mountain ‘extending to other languages.’

5. Qrobo, the Pride of Korean Web Technology

With the introduction of Qrobo into the arena, a new hope has emerged. Though it only has six months in the open market, Qrobo has already managed to develop a Japanese search service (which NHN tried to do for the last 8 years) in just three months. Thus, Qrobo is the only non-American company that can boast having a multilingual search engine technology like Google’s.

Qrobo uses a state-of-the-art technology that conducts ‘semantic’ searches powered by AI robots that understand and analyze a large number of relations between words. In this way the robots arrive at increasingly more accurate results rather than at a pile of unfiltered information. The ‘information-oriented period’, which fostered the mass popularization of information, is now transitioning to a new and bolder ‘relevance period’, which aims at refining information into a more accurate and heavily personalized structure. Qrobo’s ‘relevance search’ raises the accuracy of the search results by focusing on the semantic relationships that are aroused when an infinite variety of keyword combinations are used. This more sophisticated ‘ontological’ technology corresponds exactly to the demands of a new period in web search.

The search engine is more than a means of ‘surfing the web’; it is also at the core of the fundamental IT science principles that comprise all forms of IT technology. NTT (the company at the head of the Japanese government’s search engine development project) recently offered Qrobo the opportunity to work together on developing the world’s next-level multilingual search engine. It is an inspiring occasion for Qrobo to show its technological prowess to the world.

Qrobo is still an infant in the search engine market, but there is no other search engine company of the same age that promises as much global potential. Qrobo is planning to open a global service all around the world in only three years, and it carries with it the dream of strengthening Korea’s world IT power.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://reina-lee.blogspot.com/2009/02/world-search-market-qrobo.html' title='World Search Market & They are good for having fun time with friends.

But when you don't have anybody to go to popular bar or restaurant, you can find some hidden bars, like a Turkish bar 'Istanbul'.
The owner is a nice Korean man, little bit big(not tall), and the cook is a Turkish man, tall and black hair, and there are two kind young girl workers.

It is not big bar but cozy. I didn't notice the bar first time as it is on second floor in a building which is located in the alley. I saw a information about turkish beer 'efes pilsener', came up the bar to satify my thirsty throat.

I ordered a plate of lamp Ishkender kebap(sliced grilled lamp covered with grounded tomato sauce and wet bread and sour plain yoghourt)and 2 bottle of efes.
They were not high but good enough for having relaxing time by myself

Canto Destruido, por Carlos Pellicer - (¡feliz cumpleaños, bonita mia!)

In what ray of light, absent love
has your absence posed?
